History

Elizabeth J. Nordin dei Conti Cutelli, is an Italian Noblewoman, Socialite and Entrepreneur, she is well known in the Political circles, and the international jet set as ' Life Guru ' and for his important contribution and support to various charity activities. Descended from the Italian philosopher and jurist, Latinist Mario Cutelli (Catania 1589 – 1654), count of Villa Rosy and Lord of the Alminusa, who founded the famous and prestigious Convitto Cutelli of Catania, in the 1600.

Biography

Born in Padua, Sicilian by adoption and citizen of the World she is the daughter of Countess Rosanna Mazzaglia dei Conti of Cutelli (Catania 1919 -Padova 2011) and Sicilian Industrialist Gaetano Caudullo, (1911-2000).

The Countess is very proud of her Sicilian roots, not only because she belongs to one of the most prominent Noble Families in Sicily, but mostly because her Grandfather, Count Gaetano Mazzaglia Cutelli, whom contributed to the history of Hollywood, as the Inventor of  Special Sound Effects, which was also used in the early Tarzan films, and gave voice to Micky Mouse! Leon Schlesinger in 1937 called him: the greatest artist, and Master of Sound! His work was also used in the film ' The Trespasser's with Gloria Swanson, but Count Cutelli was always extremely proud for giving to the public the first cry of Abraham Lincoln in D.W. Griffith's film: “Abraham Lincoln”. It was also admired by the American press, and the American Magazine wrote of him: When the sound experts remain confused, and don't know how to solve a problem, they must convene the Hollywood Special effects Wizard: The Count Gaetano Mazzaglia Cutelll

Life

Countess Nordin dei Conti Cutelli, left Sicily at the age of 5 years and moved with his family to Rome, where she attended the exclusive Marymount College. Their home in the Parioli area, was one of the most coveted  ' Romans' Salon ', due to the presence of renowned personalities from the world of entertainment, from Federico Fellini, Vittorio de Sica, Stelvio Cipriani, Pippo Baudo, Katia Ricciarelli, and more!

Her mother, Countess Rosanna Mazzaglia dei Conti Cutelli, in the 50s was considered the pioneer of The Ready To Wear in Sicily, and in 1963 she was Creating for Delia Biaggiotti. In 1970 she opened the successful "Sartoria Frattina" in Rome, where  the most elegant Celebrities loved to wear her creations.

Eccentric Socialite and cosmopolitan, in the 80s follows the mother to London, where she still resides. Related to Lady D by a nice friendship, and by a shared passion for Opera and theater, mother and daughter were protagonists of the English Aristocracy. Countess Elizabeth in London began to volunteer for the League of Friends at the Royal Marsden Hospital, the first Hospital in the world for cancer research, and in other Hospitals to help those afflicted by Alzheimer's Disease.

Enterprising, polyglot, eccentric, but above all a lover of life, the Countess is defined as "A Woman from the Past"! Super formal, but also very unconventional, with an Hollywood DNA, taken from the famous grandfather! She does not like hypocrisy, and in her life she has had the courage to put in line Presidents, Kings, Queens, and other Powerful People, in fact, the Countess is about to write a book to dispel the lives of the most famous International VIPs.

Countess J. Nordin Cutelli so far has being married 5 times, including with the Scientist Dr Michael Turner; the Cypriot Architect Alkis Christopher Joannides (which in the 90s was Awarded in Ottawa, as one of the best Architect Worldwide); the fifth husband is the Swedish Industrialist Dag Nordin co-owner of the Järven Group, one of the leading companies in the field of Hospital production, and other industries such as Acoustics, and Water Purification, exporting to more than 75 countries worldwide.

The Countess, has only one child from her second marriage, Maximilian Dawson, born in Italy in 1981.

Today Countess Elizabeth Nordin Cutelli is an Entrepreneur, also in the Movie Business; in 2016 at the Film Festival in Venice, she sponsored the movie "The Bad Batch"  that won the "Golden Lion" (Special Prize), and the Event was reported on Vogue Magazine, TMZ, and other International Media.

Count Gaetano Cutelli ones arrived in Hollywood his dream was fulfilled in short time, as he became The World’s Foremost Master of Sound Effects. And his natural gift of producing more than 2000 different sounds with his throat was defined by Leon Schlesinger, the maker of the famous cartoons “The Looney Tones”, and “Merrie Melodies”, a Human Wonder, making him part of his team with a fabulous contract

The Count was also gifted to sing in four different keys at ones, and he used his peculiar talent to entertain soldier in War World II

Sounds Effects 

The first picture to make use of Count Cutelli’s sound effects was “The Trespassers” with Gloria Swanson; and he also took pride in giving the world the first cry of Abraham Lincoln, at birth, in D.W. Griffith’s “ Abraham Lincoln”, saying that it was the greatest honor ever bestowed on him!

Count Gaetano Cutelli, he was honored when the government of France invited him to go to Paris, and equip the country’s radio stations. That government appointment Count Cutelli to calls from 10 others countries, and the Scandinavian Scientific Institute sponsored his trip to Artic to do research for radio and picture sound effects. 

Hollywood gave him the nick name of the “Big Noise”, a title he earned when, as synchronistic when he created a big battle scene for the background of a motion picture. Furthermore, Count Gaetano Cutelli was the first to give the voice to Mickey Mouse

Personal Life

After his marriage with Ida Paladino, which gave him 2 children, he left for Hollywood, and after World War I he returned to Sicily only to take his beloved daughter Rosanna (1918-2011) with him to Los Angeles. Unfortunately, his daughter refused to follow him to America due to the fact that she resented the father to have left the Family to follow the American dream. Nevertheless, Count Gaetano Cutelli before going back to Hollywood decided to pass the Title of Countess to his daughter, rather than to his estranged son

Legacy 

Count Gaetano Cutelli’ s daughter Rosanna, around 1935 married a Sicilian Industrialist, and she gave birth to 8 children, but during her life, and before her death she always stated to her offsprings, that, for various reasons, the only child worthy to inherit the Title of Countess would be her youngest daughter, Elizabeth Lucia, which now after 5 marriages is known as Elizabeth Nordin dei Conti Cutelli

Death

Cutelli died of a heart attack on July 16, 1944 while waiting for a train in Seattle. Upon his death, the Chicago Tribune called him the “Genius of Sound Effects”.[11] After his death, The Berlin Anthropological Institute offered $2000 dollars to purchase Cutelli's head so that it could be studied for his sound effects ability. The request was declined by the family.[12
